You will notice this leather from its waxy surface when young at age. It is during the tanning an especially large amount of wax is rubbed by hand into the leather. This leads to the typical smoothness and shine of bridle leather and over time it will develop a unique patina giving each item its own character, displaying history as it has occurred.
